Easter Flowers

Happy Easter!

Today I tried a new technique that I've been wanting to try for a while!

Using mini marshmallows and colored sugar, I made flowers for Easter! I cut the mini marshmallows in half, and put them into baggies with the colored sugar. When the marshmallows are cut in half, the middle is sticky and the sugar sticks perfectly! Then one by one, I added the cut marshmallows to my frosted cupcakes and created a flower.

Hope everyone had a great Easter and enjoyed this beautiful weather!

Super Hero K!

We have a 3 year old little boy's birthday this weekend and I wanted to make him something. I had seen how capes were becoming more and more popular so I decided to give it a try!

I made it reversible so that he could have two capes in one. There's Velcro on each side of the neck straps too.

Here's Dave testing it out for me!

I also made a mask that matches the felt 'K' on the cape!

This gift was a total success! K loved it and his parents couldn't believe I had made it just for him!

J's Minnie Mouse

J turned 5 this week! Ever since her 4th birthday she's been talking about how she wanted a Minnie Mouse party next!

All colors and designs were her's, she drew me a picture so I would get it all perfect! I wasn't able to get a good picture of it, but inside I did pink and purple cake balls.

Her favors were very cute cupcakes inside a Minnie or Mickey cup. We ordered chocolate bow molds for the Minnie cupcakes, but they didn't come in time so we had to improvise.

Here is J blowing out her candle!
Happy Birthday J!

Felt Food!

Recently, I stumbled on a pin on Pinterest for Felt Food. It led me to some photos, but no tutorial, so I decided to just go for it, how hard could it be?!

Well let me tell you, it's not hard but it is addicting!! I haven't stopped since early last week. I've been doing it during C's nap time, with J while she colors, and at home when Dave's expecting me to watch a show, oops!

So far I've finished breakfast, some snacks, and pasta. I've got so much more planned!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Even though I'm totally Irish, I spent my St. Patrick's Day cuddled up on the couch! I know, I know, totally lame!

But I did enjoy baking on Saturday and trying something new! I baked green cake balls, and put them INSIDE my cake!

It ended up making my cake polka dotted on the inside. I didn't do any fancy decorating because I was pressed for time before we had to leave and bring the cake with us. It was awesome! I will be doing this again for an upcoming birthday :)

Baby Bibs & Changing Pads

Lately, I've been doing a lot of sewing. I got my FIRST sewing machine this Christmas and I've wanted to do nothing but sew! My most recent projects have been bibs and changing pads for all the babies coming around us.

I even got snap pliers so the bibs have snap closures rather than velcro!

To make the changing pads, I followed a tutorial by Made By Marzipan.
I didn't add the button or elastic because I figured things for a busy mom should be quick and easy.

Hope you enjoy the changes and new posts I'll be adding!

Bye, Bye Amanda's Baking

IT'S TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW!

Most of you that know me, know that I can't stick to one thing. I want to try it all. I enjoy all types of hands on activities - baking, sewing, painting, etc! So I decided this blog needs to be about all those activities, not just my baking.

So from now on, I'll be posting all of my creations so you can see them all!
