Santa Hat cupcakes!

They're not anything special, but here are my Santa Hat cupcakes!

I wanted the red to be more vibrant, but I ran out of red coloring - maybe next year!

Christmas cake!

This Christmas, I decided there was no better gift than cake!

I started with a three layer checkerboard cake.

I covered the top with Christmas sprinkles.
They were red, white and green with a few snowflakes and trees.

From there, I used the #5 star tip to make swirls all around the entire cake and top edge.

I spent a couple hours staring at it until I decided what it needed...
Pom Pom Appetizer Picks!

I used them around the edge of the cake, a few in the center, and a few at the bottom of the cake.

This is how it looked inside!
I think the checkerboard is awesome!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

My fridge is full and I'm exhausted but tomorrow is CHRISTMAS!

I'm so thankful for all the wonderful people I have in my life, and I hope you all are too! I have been truly blessed with such supportive family and friends. Thank YOU for visiting my blog and helping me become the baker I am today. This blog is my home away from home and I'm so happy I'm able to share my joy of baking with others.

I hope you all have a great Christmas and enjoy your time with your friends and family!

Butterfly Cake

Here's the ending result of my upcoming surprise!

I started with this Butterfly pan and outlining the major designs on it with a #3 solid circle tip.

Next, I filled in the torso of the butterfly with the #16 star tip.

I forgot that I had wanted one of the designs to be solid frosting, so I had to wipe off the outlining and frost with the blue icing. I also did the yellow with a #5 star tip.

I had to re outline the blue now that I had wiped it.

I did the green area with the same #3 solid circle tip by just doing dots in a line.

Lastly, I finished the cake off in pink with the #16 tip.

Hope you like my Butterfly cake, I sure was proud of it! :)
Stay tuned for my good news coming in the next month or so!

Something Great is Coming...

I wanted to take this time to thank everyone that's taken the time to check out my blog. I've put a lot of time into putting this together and making these cakes for my friends and family.

I also wanted to apologize for the lack of updating late. It's been a busy fall and I haven't been baking! It's been awful!

BUT...
I've got something great in the works and it will be posted here as soon as possible. So please keep checking back and take a few minutes to comment on your favorite cake! I look forward to seeing what the crowd favorite is :)

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and have an even better holiday season!

Sarah is 18!

I still can't believe it's true, but my baby sister is an ADULT!

I've never made a sprinkle top cake before, so this was definitely a trial and error cake.

Next time, I'll be sure to do sprinkle first, and side details last. I tried using tweezers to pick out the loose sprinkles, but there were just too many and I was ruining my side detail.

I love the look of the sprinkles!
There's no question it's a birthday cake!

I had my first delivery cake-tastrophy. Luckily, it was for my sister so she didn't mind a little mishap. I fixed it the best I could.

The candles make it look even more festive!

Happy Birthday baby sis!

YMCA

We're going to the Y-M-C-A!

This summer I worked at the local YMCA Summer Camp as the director of their Dino-mytes camp. My campers were between 5 and 8 years old. At the end of each summer, we have a talent show and bake sale. I decided to donate a cake because I haven't baked in two months and I was going a bit nutty. So here's my creation...

Our camp includes about 200+ kids so I wanted to make enough
cake to feed everyone and their parents.

I decided to do something simple because I was expecting it
to be cut up before anyone saw what it looked like.

I did squares, triangles, diamonds and circles on the sides,
along with polka dots all over.

I'm pretty happy with how it came out. With how it started, I didn't think I'd like it.
It was a huge hit with all my kids and co-workers. It ended up going up for auction, instead of cut up in the bake sale. The bidding ended at $65! Maybe I should start charging more.... NAH!

Sarah's Graduation

She did it!
My baby sister has graduated high school!
And who better to bake her
congratulation cake than me?!

After making her high school varsity softball team,
and being fought for on the junior varsity team,
I figured a jersey cake was the best way to congratulate her.

I based the jersey on her team jersey as best as I could.

Writing on cakes is one of my hardest things,
and with the complex lettering on the jersey,
knew it wouldn't be perfect.

But I think I got the point across!

I personally loved the softball!
I think it came out looking so realistic!

The cupcakes are a whole 'nother story!
I special ordered the wrappers and picks
from Oriental Trading.

I decide to split my frosting bag with the two colors.
I've never tried it before, but it worked well and was so easy!

You can be sure I'll be doing two colors much more often!
These look amazing, I got so many compliments!

And here's my beautiful sister so happy about her cake!
I had to leave for the cutting of it because
that just breaks my heart!

Congratulations Sarah!
We are so proud of you!
